James Daly Hinson

August 12, 1945 – September 12, 2018

James Daly Hinson, 73, of Statesville, went into eternal rest on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Gordon Hospice House.

Jim was born on August 12, 1945 in New Hanover County, NC to the late James Daly Hinson Sr. and Pauline Gentle Estes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Floyd Estes and brother, Johnny Hinson.

During his career, Jim worked as a service manager for Coca-Cola for 15 years and as a salesman SD Coffee for 19 years. He was also a devoted volunteer firefighter for Troutman Fire Department for 30 years. In his free time, Jim was an avid reader and a little league baseball coach.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Julia Cook Hinson; sons, James “Mark” Hinson (Theresa) and John “David” Hinson (Kelly); sister, Jane Hinson Brewer (Mike), five grandchildren, Jamie Hinson (Krista), Zachary Hinson, Meredith Hinson, Seth Hinson, and Holden Hinson, and one step-great grandchild, Anniston Fulbright.

The family will receive friends at Troutman Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Mountain Road Baptist Church, where he was a member 42 years, on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Jamie Fox officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Iredell Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jim’s honor may be made to Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio Street, Suite 500, Chicago, Illinois 60611 or to Mountain Road Baptist Church, 132 Compton Park Road, Statesville, NC 28677.
