William Murray Lamb

November 18, 1936 – June 27, 2018

William Murray Lamb, 81, of Statesville, went into eternal rest on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

He was born on November 18, 1936 in Charlotte to the late William Henry Lamb and Rose Marie Helms Lamb. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Lamb, and three brothers, Jimmy Lamb, Raymond Lamb, and Stephen Lamb.

Murray was a devoted man of God who loved to read the Bible. He was a longtime member of Beulah Baptist Church. He served as a deacon, a Sunday school teacher, and sang in the church choir for over 61 years. Murray worked as an industrial sewing machine mechanic for Singer as well as for Dixie Sewing. He also loved gardening and generously shared the vegetables he harvested. He was truly a caring and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.

He is survived his beloved wife of 61 years, Nancy Byers Lamb; son, Bill (Rhea) Lamb; daughters, Lorie (Jeff) McDaniels and Julie (Bill) Shissler; sister, Louise (Howard) Baker; grandchildren, Justin Lamb, Grant Lippard, Lawrence Lippard, Olivia Lamb, Wayne McDaniels; and best friend, John Simmons.

The family will receive friends Sunday, July 1, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Beulah Baptist Church. The funeral service will begin at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Brian Burgess and Rev. Henry Cook officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at the Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beulah Baptist Church, Att: Building Fund, 1851 Old Mountain Road, Statesville, NC 28677.
