December 3, 1928 – May 19, 2013

Joe Ervin Clodfelter, born December 3, 1928 to the late Ira Lee Clodfelter and Lillian Ervin Clodfelter, completed his “duty of a man” (Ecclesiastes 12:13) on this earth on Sunday, May 19, 2013 to spend eternity with his Heavenly Father.

Joe enjoyed a long and blessed life with his family for many years. He was married June 18, 1950 to his devoted wife, Lattie Lee (Hill) Clodfelter, who survives. Joe retired as a pattern designer for Troutman Industries and served his community as a volunteer fireman for 20 plus years. He was a gifted watch and clock repair specialist who perfected his talent ticking away many hours at his work desk. As was his father, Joe was gifted in woodworking and enjoyed his past-time of bee-keeping.

Joe was a self-proclaimed “jack-of-all-trades, master of none” but he served his Lord and Master as an active and involved member in the church of his youth, Troutman First United Methodist Church, until declining health limited his dedicated service. He served his country honorably in the US Air Force as staff sergeant in charge of stock supply.

He was a humble servant, an admired uncle, a devoted husband, a hardworking father and a gentle grandfather and great-grandfather. In addition to his wife, also left behind to cherish his memory are two sons, Gerald Ervin (Karen) Clodfelter and Kevin Hill (Cathy) Clodfelter; and four grandchildren, Ira Casey (Gretchin) Clodfelter, Candice Margaret Clodfelter (Brian) Clontz, Gavin Anderson Clodfelter and Lillian Rachel Clodfelter. “Pop” also leaves behind three great-grandchildren, Mckenzie Kay Clontz, Mason James Clontz and Aubrey Kate Clodfelter. As God takes one of His own “Pop” to be with Him, he blesses our family with an expectant joy of another gift of His love, Pop and Granny’s fourth great-grandchild.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Ira Keith Clodfelter.

A visitation with family will be held from 2 – 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Troutman First United Methodist Church.

A memorial service to honor Joe will immediately follow at 3:30 p.m. with the Rev. Mike Carr officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

The family is ever grateful for the hands and hearts that blessed his life at Heritage Place Memory Care Adult Living Center for the past two years. We are ever grateful also for the loving staff at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville as we said our farewell to his wit, his wisdom and his indelible presence in all our lives.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Troutman First United Methodist Church, 204 Mills Ave. Troutman, NC 28166; Troutman Fire and Rescue, P. O. Box 22, Troutman, NC 28166; or Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Rd, Statesville, NC 28625.

Troutman Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Joe E. Clodfelter.
